Rhododendron Hybrids: Evergreen medium
sized shrubs for acid soil, with large spring flowers in a variety of colours.
Position in partial shade.
Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary):
Evergreen herb with silvery fragrant leaves and blue spring flowers. Grows to
about 1 metre if left unpruned. Position in full sun in well-drained soil.
Amelanchier alnifolia "Obelisk": Small
tree with white spring flowers and autumn leaf colour. Narrow shape means it
can be accommodated in small gardens. Any soil in sun or partial shade.
Dicentra spectabilis, Dicentra spectabilis
alba, Dicentra formosa: Spring flowering herbaceous perennial, with pink or
white flowers in April / May. Varieties vary from 30 cm to 75 cm in height.
Prefers a shady position in moist soil.
Cytisus x praecox: Small-medium deciduous
shrub with scented creamy yellow flowers in May and narrow pointed leaves.
Syringa microphylla: Medium-large
deciduous shrub with panicles of scented pink flowers from late spring.
(Lilac).
Vinca minor alba: Creeping evergreen
shrub, suitable for ground cover in shade. White flowers from late spring.
Miscanthus sinensis "Zebrinus": Grass
with interesting stripy foliage, up to 1.2 metres.
